Gold Mexican Pesos

Within the Western Hemisphere, the Mexican Mint is the oldest. It was initially established in the year 1535 by Spanish conquistadors. It was the Mexico City Mint, that was responsible for producing the Mexican Gold Peso coin. 50 pesos was issued, to mark the occasion of the one-hundredth anniversary of Mexico's independence. Officially called the Centenario (English: "hundredth anniversary"), the coin is made by the Bank of Mexico. On that occasion, the Gold Peso was the purest gold coin ever made. During the 20th century, Gold Pesos were made in values ranging from 50 pesos to 2 pesos (face value). Mexican gold pesos from before 1959 are highly sought after by both investors and collectors for their historical value and pure gold bullion value.

Design Elements of Mexico's Gold Pesos

The Peso has a face value like most bullion coins. The most common denomination of coins in the market right now is the fifty-peso coin. This includes at least 37.50 grams of gold which is 21.6 carats pure. The design on the front of each gold peso is different, and this is done to match the denomination of the coin. 50-peso coin commonly known as the Centenario gold coin, was created by Emilio Del Moral. Besides the 20 Peso, there are also smaller coins like the 10 Peso, the 5 Peso, the 2.5 Peso, and the 2 Peso. On the front side of the two-peso gold coin, there is an inscription "Dos Pesos." It is surrounded by the date of issue, a wreath, and the letter "M." The 2.5, 5, and 10 gold pesos feature the portrait of Mexico's independence father, Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. Along with the year each of these coins was produced, the words "Dos y medio pesos," "Cinco pesos," and "Diez" were printed on each one. On the front of the twenty gold pesos, there is another beautiful design. The Sun Stone, which is also known as the Cuauhxicalli Eagle Bowl Aztec Calendar, is shown in this design. The engraving "Vente Pesos" goes around the figure and has marks for weight and purity
