Overview

The Presidential $1 Coin Program was initiated by the United States Mint in 2007 to pay tribute to the nation's former presidents. In this series of dollar coins, which are manufactured in the sequence of their service, pictures of previous presidents of the United States of America are captured on the coins. There will be a total of three months during which each President's picture will be produced on one-dollar coins and made available for circulation.

Structure

The order in which each President of the United States served as President of the United States will be reflected on one-dollar coins that are mint state, proof, and satin finished from mint state. Every single Presidential Dollar will have the identical reverse design of the Statue of Liberty applied on it. Every single Presidential Dollar coin has a writing statement on the edge that incorporates the date and the mint mark.

During the years 2007 and 2008, the phrase "In God We Trust" was printed on the edge of Presidential Dollar denomination coins. However, beginning in 2009, the United States Mint moved the motto to a new position since it was discovered that tens of thousands of coins had edge lettering inscriptions that were missing.

$1 Coins Series

While simultaneously fostering an interest in numismatics, the program's objective was to educate the public about the nation's leaders.

The first in the series came out in 2007 and showed John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington. In 2008, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Martin Van Buren were honoured in the next row. A picture of Zachary Taylor, John Tyler, James K. Polk, and William Henry Harrison was shown to us in 2009. A photo was published of Abraham Lincoln, James Buchanan, Franklin Pierce, and Millard Fillmore in 2010. Andrew Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, and James A. Garfield were the four people who were honoured in 2011. It was Chester Arthur, Grover Cleveland 22nd, Benjamin Harrison and Grover Cleveland 24th image in 2012. Coins with images of William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and William Howard Taft came out in 2013. FDR, Herbert Hoover, Warren G. Harding, and Calvin Coolidge were the four presidents who were honoured in 2014. 2015 featured depictions of former presidents Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson. In 2016, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan all showed up on a coin's picture. In the year 2020, George H. W. Bush was featured on a coin. There is still a lot of interest among coin collectors in purchasing Presidential Dollars as an investment option. Collectors typically search for complete sets of Presidential Dollars to pay tribute to significant historical figures and show respect for events that occurred in the past.

Making the Switch to Releases Exclusive to Collectors

The demand for the coins that were already in circulation decreased, even though early excitement for the series was rather high. Because of this, the United States Mint decided in 2012 to restrict manufacturing to numismatic sales, which means that these coins are largely available to collectors rather than being made available for public circulation. In addition to ensuring that the program would continue, this modification prevented an excessive accumulation of dollar coins that were not being utilized.
